Placement of Wireless Access Point Questions you must ask: Where is the wireless clients located? i.e Areas you want to cover. How far can the WAP send and receive it’s signals? Are you using a directional Antenna? Do you need to prevent certain areas from receiving the signal? Are there other RF interference issues?

Documentation has become increasingly important. It is one of the most critical aspect of Information Technology. As a Network Administrator, having to deal with hundreds of issues each day, how do you track changes and stay organized? Document Everything! Luckily, there are various tools out there now that would help you achieve this with less effort, only if you remember to use it. What do you need to document? At one point or the other, you will have new Administrators join your team, Your documentation will come in handy at such times and will help you avoid omitting critical details. You need to document Issues and how they were resolved- You only need to refer to past issues and how they were resolved if you have them documented. Document a list of Service Providers, Back Ups details, Reports: Justify your daily tasks by documenting critical issues and changes. This might seem like a whole lot to do but it will make your work and life easier on the long run. Regularly update documentations of -Hardware -Software – Network Topology – Wiring Layout – Server Configuration – Network Services – Network Procedures
